Types of data we collect
As part of the registration process for our services, free content, or newsletters, we collect personal information. We use that information for a couple of reasons: to send you content and products that you’ve requested or to tell you about stuff you’ve asked us to tell you about; occasional marketing of products or services that we feel may be of interest to you, or to contact you if we need to obtain or provide additional information. We may also email you to check our records are right and to check every now and then that you’re happy and satisfied. We don't rent or trade email lists with other organizations and businesses. Under the GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 we may, however, be required to share information without consent if, in our judgement, there is a lawful reason to do so, such as where safety may be at risk.
We also use Google Analytics to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way that does not identify anyone. We do not make and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our websites.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
How long do we retain your data?
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profiles. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Access to your personal information
You are entitled to view, amend, or delete the personal information that we hold. Email your request to Melanie Appleyard at firstname.lastname@example.org.
